VORHIES, Donald K. -- Donald K. VORHIES, 62, of Lockridge, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, in San Simon, Ariz.

No funeral is planned. The body has been cremated. Interment will be in Vorhies Cemetery near Lockridge at a later date.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to the VORHIES family and mailed to 3341 N. 217th St., Lockridge 52635.

Mr. VORHIES was born March 11, 1945, in Lockridge, the son of Otto Fay and Dorothy SCHLARBAUM VORHIES. He married Gladys L. MOORE March 2, 1970, at Lockridge Lutheran Church.

Mr. VORHIES lived his entire life in the Lockridge community. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1963. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era. After active duty, he served in the Army Reserves and in the Iowa National Guard. Mr. VORHIES worked as an over-the-road semitrailer driver for Shelman & Sons Trucking of Winfield.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Judy WAUGH and husband David of Libertyville; one son, Jason VORHIES and wife Ashlee of Fairfield; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Margareet ESHELMAN of Lockridge and Joan BERG of Columbia, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Walter VORHIES; and two sisters, Elaine McCLURE and Helen VORHIES.
