PARCELL, Helen -- Helen PARCELL, 69, of Richland, died Sunday afternoon, Jan. 20, 2008, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a brief illness.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Richland.

PARCELL, Helen F. -- Helen F. PARCELL, 69, of Richland, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a brief illness.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Friends Church in Richland, with the Revs. Tim Hadley, Ron Bryan and Stan Bauer officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Gould Funeral Home in Richland, where family will be present from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials have been established to Richland Fire Department and Friends Cemetery Association. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or church or may be mailed to the family at 3095 Dogwood Ave., Brighton 52540.

Mrs. PARCELL was born Nov. 19, 1938, near Richland, the daughter of Seth E. and Maude BRADY HOSKINS. She married Victor D. PARCELL Sept. 26, 1959, in Pleasant Plain. He died Nov. 20, 2007.

Mrs. PARCELL grew up in the Pleasant Plain area. She attended Blackhawk No. 1 country school, graduated from Fairfield High School in 1957 and attended William Penn College in Oskaloosa. She and her husband farmed near Rubio until retiring in 1995 and moving into Richland. She worked for Union Bank and Trust Co. and Firstar Bank of Richland for 38.5 years and retired in 1998.

Mrs. PARCELL was active in the community. She was a member of Trinity Friends Church of Richland, where she served as treasurer and Sunday school teacher. She served as either secretary or treasurer for many years on an Iowa Board of Friends Development Fund and treasurer of the Richland Community Club. She was a member of the Rubio Ladies club and Richland Lions Club.

Survivors include twin daughters, Melinda CROSBY and husband Larry of Fremont and Melissa GORMAN and husband Patrick of Brighton; one son, Joseph PARCELL and wife Diana of Brighton; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Chalmers and Tom HOSKINS.
