MORRISON, Rex Trow -- Rex Trow MORRISON, 89, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla.

Arrangements are pending at Behner Funeral Home and Crematory.

MORRISON, Rex Trow -- Rex Trow MORRISON, 89, of Tulsa, Okla., died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. Interment will be in Fell Cemetery in Libertyville.

Visitation with the family will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.

Mr. MORRISON was born Dec. 29, 1918, at the family home in Libertyville, the son of Bert William and Mae Belle TROW MORRISON. He married Frances Delpha HEATON June 26, 1939. She died Aug. 15, 1946. He later married Doris Marjorie HESTON July 3, 1947.

Mr. MORRISON began his career as a teacher in a rural one-room schoolhouse in Van Buren County. He later taught biology and was an assistant basketball coach at Fairfield High School before moving to Des Moines, where he earned a master's degree in pharmacology at Drake University. He then accepted an assistant professor teaching assignment at Drake. After two years at Drake, he went on to teach chemistry at Des Moines Roosevelt High School. In 1963, he and his wife moved to Rockaway, N.J., where they both taught. He retired in June 1983.

Mr. MORRISON served in the United States Navy during World War II.

He received numerous chemistry teaching awards and other professional honors, including the National Science Teacher of the Year award.

He was a member of Lutheran Church in Tulsa, Okla.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Janet WICKETT and husband Ken of Prairie City, Robin MICHAELS-JOHNSON of Tulsa, Okla., and Jon MORRISON and wife Ann of Mahomet, Ill.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Chris Kent.
