McDOWELL, John M. -- John M. McDOWELL, 46, of Ottumwa died at 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

At his request, the body has been cremated.

A memorial gathering will be 1-4 p.m. Friday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall in Ottumwa.

Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua assisted the family.

Mr. McDOWELL was born Oct. 7, 1961, in Ottumwa.

He earned his GED diploma at Indian Hills Community College and had worked in maintenance at Camelot Towers in Ottumwa. His hobby was working on cars.

Survivors include his mother, Doris J. McDOWELL of Ottumwa; fiance Lisa PRUNTY of Lockridge; two brothers, Paul McDOWELL Jr. and Derrick McDOWELL, both of Ottumwa; three sisters, Rebecca McDOWELL, Laurie SHELTON and Crystal McDOWELL, all of Ottumwa; and two stepsons, Nate and Seth PRUNTY, both of Lockridge.
