WATSON, Cloyd -- Cloyd WATSON, 84, of Rubio, died Monday evening, Dec. 17, 2007, at Washington County Hospital in Washington, Iowa.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Richland.

WATSON, Cloyd Dwight -- Cloyd Dwight WATSON, 84, of Wayland, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at Washington County Hospital in Washington, Iowa, following a lengthy illness.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville, with the Rev. Wayne Wilkin officiating. Burial will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation began at 4 p.m. today at Gould Funeral Home in Richland, with the family present from 6-7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hope Lutheran Church or Wayland First Responders may be left at the funeral home or church or may be mailed to the family at 301 W. Third St., Wayland 52654.

Mr. WATSON was born June 1, 1923, in Fremont, the son of Carl R. and Charlotte Lottie MARTIN WATSON. He married Lois ESHELMAN Nov. 16, 1948, at Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville.

Mr. WATSON grew up in the Richland and Rubio area, where he attended area schools. He worked as a mechanic for 35 years and as a road grader for the Jefferson County Road Department for 14 years. During his career as a mechanic, he became the "go to" mechanic for AC tractor problems. He and his wife lived in Rubio for 53 years until moving to Wayland in 2001.

Mr. WATSON was a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church. He was a member of the church council, and he served on the Rubio School Board.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Ricky WATSON and wife Loni of Richland; one daughter, Cindy GUY and husband Danny Joe of Brighton; and two grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lawrence, Derral and Delano "Bun" WATSON; and three sisters, Wanita DERBY, Lailla ASH and Winniefred WATSON.
