BROBSTON, Evelyn Mae OVERHOLSER -- Evelyn Mae OVERHOLSER BROBSTON of Burlington, Iowa died Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Blair House Nursing Home in Burlington, Iowa.

She was born November 7, 1918 in Fairfield, Iowa to Guy Irwin and Eva Marie LARSON OVERHOLSER. She was the oldest of five sisters: Buena BATTS of California, who preceded her in death; Ruth DeGRANGE of Burlington, Iowa; Marty HOOVER in San Diego, California; and Joan BELL, of Cayonville, Oregon.

Evelyn married Richard Merle BROBSTON on June 25, 1936. They lived in the Quad-Cities until they returned to Libertyville and purchased a farm in 1944. They reared 5 boys: Richard Lee and James (Marie), who preceded her in death; Donald (Judy) of Libertyville, Iowa, Thomas (Karen) of Gerlaw, Illinois, and Robert (Shirley) of Hamilton, Illinois.

Evelyn worked at the Fairfield Glove Factory as a glove inspector for many years. Following the death of her husband Richard in 1977 she was employed as a health care worker and for several years as a sorority housemother in Ames, Iowa; Columbia, Missouri, and later in Rolla, Missouri. Evelyn was a people person and took great joy with being with family and friends.

In 1991 she moved to Burlington, Iowa and eventually entered an assisted living care facility and later resided in an Alzheimer's Unit of Blair House where she later passed away. Evelyn was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville, Iowa and the order of Pythian Sisters.

Evelyn is survived by her sons, Donald, Thomas, and Robert, 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Richard, two sons Richard Lee and James Merle, granddaughter Theresa Lynn and grandson Douglas Lee, sister Buena BATTS, and her parents.

Evelyn's service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 12 at Libertyville Faith Methodist Church in Libertyville, Iowa. Visitation precedes the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Libertyville Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville, Iowa. Rev. Michael Renken will be conducting the service. Burial will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to American Cancer Society.
