ANDERSON, Gerald -- Gerald ANDERSON, 85, of rural Brighton, died today, Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, in Mount Pleasant.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.

ANDERSON, Gerald C. -- Gerald C. ANDERSON, 85, of rural Brighton, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at Park Place in Mount Pleasant.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville, with the Rev. Wayne Wilkin officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery adjacent to the church.

Open visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Friday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton, where family will be present from 7-8:30 p.m.

Memorials to Hope Lutheran Church or the Kids Against Hunger Ministry may be left at the funeral home or church or may be mailed to the family at 3169 146th St., Brighton 52540.

Mr. ANDERSON was born April 23, 1922, in Salina, the son of Carl J. and Maude KRUMBOLTZ ANDERSON. He married Edith ZIHLMAN Feb. 27, 1946, at Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville. She died Oct. 20, 2003.

Mr. ANDERSON grew up south of Brighton where he attended country school and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1940. He was a lifelong farmer.

Mr. ANDERSON was a longtime member of Germanville Hope Lutheran Church. He was a township trustee for a number of years and a member of the Brighton Lions Club. He coached a men's fast pitch softball team for many years and enjoyed watching his granddaughters play softball and volleyball.

Survivors include two children, Dianne ECKHARDT of Kent, Wash., and Larry ANDERSON and wife Peggy of Brighton; four granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, William ANDERSON of Salina and Clarence ANDERSON of Brighton; one sister, Dorothy MIDDLEKOOP of Batavia and his special friend, Opal WIGGINS of Trenton.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wilbur and Merlyn ANDERSON; and one sister, Marjorie RUSSELL.
