John Allen Steele, 41, of Fairfield died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006.

A service is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dave Peterson officiating. Interment will follow in Glasgow Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Cards and memorials may be sent to 2309 US Highway 34, Fairfield 52556. Online condolences may be sent via www.behnerfh.com.

Mr. Steele was born April 15, 1964, in Fairfield, the son of Herman D. and Margaret H. Leazer Steele. He married Sandra Renee Hawkins Sept. 27, 1986.

Mr. Steele was a lifelong resident of the Fairfield community. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1982 and from Indian Hills Community College in 1984. He worked at Rockwell-Meritor for 18 years and was a service engineer for Productivity Inc. for the past 4.5 years.

Mr. Steele was a board member of the Walton Golf Club. He enjoyed NASCAR, boating, hunting and golfing.

Survivors include his wife; his parents; one brother, Donald; one grandmother, Helen Simmons of Fairfield; one nephew, Nathan Steele of Fairfield, and one niece Sandra Steele of Libertyville.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and step-grandfather.
