BREUER, Hugh Henry -- Hugh Henry BREUER, 81, of Salem, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

A service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Salem Congregational Church, with the Rev. Harold Dorsey officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Burlington Memorial Cemetery in Burlington.

Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where family will be present from 5-7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Salem Congregational Church or Hope Baptist Church in Winterhaven, Fla.

Mr. BREUER was born Aug. 31, 1926, in Franklin Township, the son of Edward and Minnie TAEGER BREUER. He married Phyllis BALZER June 26, 1949, at Latty Church Settlement, north of Burlington.

Mr. BREUER was a farmer and carpenter. He had driven a truck delivering car parts. He sold seed corn and raised cattle.

Mr. BREUER attended Salem Congregational Church and was a member of Hope Baptist Church, which he helped found in Winterhaven. He was a Salem Township trustee, Salem Congregational Church trustee, Sunday school superintendent, member of the Hillsboro school board, Henry County Extension Service officer and measurer for ASC.

He enjoyed reading, woodworking, traveling and golfing.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Alan BREUER and wife Darcella of Palmyra, Mo., and Bruce BREUER and wife Shari of Mount Pleasant; two daughters, Linda ROWE and husband Lanny of New London and Luan SCHMITT and husband Sid of New London; one sister, Lucille HECKENBERG of Fairfield; eight grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brian; two brothers, Alfred and Roy; and five sisters, Anna, Laura, Grace, Edith and Cora.
