BAIN, Ruth Almedia -- Ruth Almedia BAIN, 88, of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Robert Hamm officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.

Open visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6-8 p.m.

A memorial has been established in Mrs. BAIN's name for a charity to be named later.

Mrs. BAIN was born Dec. 7, 1919, in Monroe, Wash., the daughter of Harry and Clara Paulette FOLLETT MILLER. She married Willis Willard BAIN Nov. 5, 1938, in Mount Pleasant. He died Sept. 13, 1990.

Mrs. BAIN moved to Mount Pleasant, where she attended school, when she was 4 years old. She worked on the production line in a canning factory in Mount Pleasant. Then, she and her husband worked for a time in their home, processing bulk mail for Alaniz & Sons in Mount Pleasant. Later, she was employed as a dishwasher at the former J&L Steakhouse and as a housekeeper in the motel adjoining the steakhouse.

Mrs. BAIN attended bible study at Calvary Baptist Church. She was a baker who decorated cakes for numerous birthdays and weddings. She enjoyed crocheting, completing jigsaw puzzles and collecting pigs.

Survivors include six daughters, Connie HUMMELL and husband Kenneth "Red" of Mount Pleasant, Janet FORD of Fairfield, Joan ORTON and husband Russell of Wever, July ILAMM and husband Robert of Meta, Mo., Candy HUSTON of Mount Pleasant and Crystal BAIN of Mount Pleasant; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Frank SMITH; one sister, Emma ANDERSON; and five grandchildren.
