HARTMAN, Gerald -- Gerald HARTMAN, 79, of Fairfield, died at 9:39 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 2007, in the Jefferson County Hospital Emergency Room in Fairfield.

A funeral is planned for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, where the family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the time of services.

According to Mr. HARTMAN's wishes, the body will be cremated following the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the American Diabetes Association.

Mr. HARTMAN was born May 16, 1928, in Albia, the son of David and Myrtle NEAL HARTMAN. Sept. 7, 1973, he married Genevie Napple REGNIER in Albia.

Mr. HARTMAN worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for 38 years, retiring as a signal foreman. He enjoyed Chicago Cubs baseball, fishing, camping and playing cards.

He was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean conflict.

Survivors include his wife Genevie HARTMAN of Fairfield; three sons: Ronald "Ron," Robert "Bob" and Larry, all of Kansas; one daughter: Carol of Kansas; one stepson: Bill REGNIER and wife Desiree of Fairfield; one sister: Betty WAGGONER of Springfield, Mo.; and numerous grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
