CRANDALL, Gladys Ruth -- Gladys Ruth CRANDALL, 89, of Fairfield, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at the Jefferson County Hospital Living Care Center in Fairfield.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Stephen Page officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

A Rosary will be recited by the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Mary Catholic Church at 4 p.m. today at the church. Prayers for a Christian Wake will be at 7 p.m. today at the church, followed by family visitation until 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Cards and memorials may be sent to 504 S. Highland St., Fairfield 52556.

Arrangements are in the care of Behner Funeral Home and Crematory in Fairfield.

Mrs. CRANDALL was born Dec. 25, 1917, in Stockport, the daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth BUCHER NELSON. She married Courtney Allen CRANDALL Aug. 30, 1940. He died Oct. 9, 1999.

Mrs. CRANDALL graduated from Birmingham High School. She was a homemaker and mother. She also owned and operated Natures Way Health Food Store in Fairfield for more than 20 years.

Mrs. CRANDALL was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include six children, Tom CRANDALL and wife Dee of York, Pa., Shirley CRANDALL of Hyannis, Mass., Allen CRANDALL and wife Susan of Fairfield, Suzanne CRANDALL of Des Moines, Karl CRANDALL of Fairfield and Kris CRANDALL and wife Lorrie of North Liberty; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bob NELSON of Fairfield.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Frank NELSON.
