WRIGHT, John R. -- John R. WRIGHT passed after a brief illness at the age of 93 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday October 15, 2007 at the First Church United in West Liberty with Rev. Al Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery, West Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the Church on Monday. Memorials may be made to the First Church United. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is in charge of arrangements.

John was born in Hersher, Illinois on November 20, 1913, to Floyd and Grace WRIGHT. The family later moved to the Fairfield, Iowa area.

In the Spring of 1937 he graduated from Iowa State University in Civil Engineering. He was the Campus Engineer in his senior year.

He married Eloise A. MOUNTAIN January 29, 1938. They had two children, Suzanna Marie, married to Leonard Ray CUTLER; and Charles Everest, married to Graciela. They are grandparents of Christopher John, Grace Anne and Rebecca Lynn; and great-grandparents to Chaise Margaret, Elizabeth Grace, Cara Everest and Claire Eloise.

John was the Director of Engineering Design at Ralston Purina in St. Louis, Missouri for 38 years. He was a Professional Registered Engineer, and a Registered Land Surveyor.

After retirement, he returned to Iowa with his wife to live and raise corn on his beloved farm, Edelweiss.

In his free time, he was active in Scouting, and the YMCA as well as a committed member in the First Church United in West Liberty, Iowa.
