Catherine Lucille MITCHELL, 96, of Fairfield died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

A service is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Wotherspoon officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Family visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army. Online condolences may be sent to www.behnerfh.com .

Mrs. MITCHELL was born July 8, 1909, in Queen City, Mo., the daughter of Allen and Rose SATTERFIELD ROLSTON. She married Dean MITCHELL Oct. 3, 1931. He died July 21, 1974 (sic - 1973).

Mrs. MITCHELL had lived in Fairfield since 1940. She was an elementary school teacher and head librarian in Batavia for 25 years.

Mrs. MITCHELL was a member of First Baptist Church in Fairfield. She was a member of the Iota Sigma Sorority, the Retired Teachers Association, The Rebecca’s and Philanthea Class. She was a state officer and executive director of WCTU.

Survivors include three children, Allen R. MITCHELL of Ottumwa, Charlotte MARK of Wellsburg and Judith HOLCOMB of Florence, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Florence GRAMSCH and Lillian CRAIG.
