Donald Wayne Mills, 67, of rural Mount Pleasant died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at his home.

A service is set for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard Iles officiating. Burials will be in the Hillsboro Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with family present from 6-8 p.m. Memorials have been established to the Mount Pleasant Senior Citizen Center and Hospice of Central Iowa.

Mr. Mills was born June 4, 1938, in the Harrisburg Community, the son of Donald Lee and Edith Lucille Giberson Mills. He married Violet Marie Stafford July 5, 1959, in Hillsboro.

Mr. Mills grew up in the Stockport area and graduated from Stockport High School. After marriage, he and his wife lived in the Stockport area until moving to the Mount Pleasant area in 1966. A lifelong farmer, he served in the Iowa National Guard for several years and was discharged in 1963. He was an over the road driver and drove for Iles Trucking, Hellman Trucking of Houghton and CRST. In 1987, he went to work for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant and worked there until his retirement in 2002. After retiring, he drove the RTA bus in Mount Pleasant.

Mr. Mills enjoyed hunting, fishing, wildlife, collecting model cars, and driving his 1957 Chevy. He also enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles and spending time with his family and pets.

Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Deb Hudson and husband Joe of Salem, Teresa Barnett of Salem, Krista Schwartz of Washington, Sherry Mills and husband Carl Clayton of Mount Pleasant, and Carol Ruble of Mount Pleasant; three sons, Kevin Mills of Des Moines, Steve Mills of Mount Pleasant, and Brent Mills and wife Rachel Remmers of Mount Pleasant; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
