PITTAM, Doris -- Doris PITTAM, of Roseburg, Oregon passed away September 12, 2007 at the age of 88.
She was born July 30, 1919 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Clarence and Lavina COCHRAN. The COCHRAN family moved back to Libertyville, Iowa in 1921. Doris graduated from Lockridge High School in 1936, and continued her education for teacher's training in the Fairfield, Iowa area. From there, the family moved from Iowa to Laurelwood, Oregon in September 1937.
On May 11, 1941, Doris married Leland W. PITTAM (deceased) in Vancouver, Washington. They later settled to raise their family in Roseburg, Oregon in 1948. Doris was a past member of the Rebecca Lodge, past member of the Elks Lodge and employed there for her culinary skills, and an active member of the Women of the Moose, Roseburg Chapter #361. She was a member of the Women of the Moose for 34 years, the current position she held was as Escort for the Senior Regent and past positions included Treasury for the Chapter, Friendship Chairman and Sweetheart Ball Chairman. In 2000, she was crowned Queen of the Sweetheart Ball.
Doris is remembered for her sincerity, sense of humor, and loving nature. Her hobbies included cooking, crafts, travel, crossword puzzles, playing bingo and solitaire, and she always enjoyed life to the fullest.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Glenn and Shirley COCHRAN of Echo, Oregon; sister-in-law Blanche COCHRAN of Hedrick, Iowa; son and daughter-in-law Tom and Audra PITTAM of Malaysia, and their children Jason, Marissa and Ryan; son Larry PITTAM of Gladstone, Oregon and his children Ken, Kelly, Kari and Kendra; daughter Nancy JONES of Springfield, Oregon and her daughters Johnna and Angela; and son and daughter-in-law Monty and Sheila PITTAM of Winston, Oregon and their daughter Ashley and nine great-grandchildren. Doris will be dearly missed by numerous family members and many friends.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so Monday, September 17 at the Long and Shukle Chapel of the Roses, from 4-7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 18 at 1 pm, at the same location. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Moose Lodge on Douglas Avenue at 3pm. Memorial contributions can be made to the Roseburg Moose Lodge who supports the charitable organizations Mooseheart and Moosehaven.
