LOLLAR, Loy R. 'Barney' -- Loy R. "Barney" LOLLAR, 64, of Brighton, formerly of Lockridge and Mount Pleasant, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at Washington County Hospital in Washington, Iowa.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Victory Fellowship Church in Brighton, with the Rev. Don Lowe officiating. Burial will be in Grant Cemetery in Rome, Iowa.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will be present from 5-7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Victory Fellowship Church.

Mr. LOLLAR was born July 16, 1943, in Marion, Ill., the son of Wayman Loy and Beulah Lucille POOLE LOLLAR. He married Cynthia May SCARFF June 17, 1962, at Oakland Mills Community Church in rural Mount Pleasant.

Mr. LOLLAR attended school in Marion and moved to Mount Pleasant and Independence with his family. He began his working career as a psychiatric aide at mental health institutes in those communities. He then took a position at the Fort Madison Correctional Facility. He left the prison to attend and graduate from the Fort Dodge Police Adacemy in Fort Dodge.

Mr. LOLLAR returned to Mount Pleasant as a patrol officer with the Mount Pleasant Police Department and later with the New London Police Department. He then became a municipal employee of the city of New London and later a correctional officer at the Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility. His last position in law enforcement was as a jailer for the Washington County jail, a position from which he retired in 2006. For a time, Mr. LOLLAR served as mayor of Brighton.

Mr. LOLLAR founded the Victory Fellowship Church in Brighton. He was a pastor for the church and held down many positions with the church. He also founded Victory Fellowship International Missions and traveled to many countries.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sandy DANIELSON and husband Carl of Buffalo, Wyo., and Lori RANFELD and husband Kevin of Lebanon, Mo.; one adopted daughter, Roxana MARTINEZ of Brighton; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
