MASDEN, B. Eileen DALLNER -- B. Eileen DALLNER MASDEN age 99 of Fairfield died Friday morning September 21, 2007 at the Living Care Center at the Jefferson County Hospital, where she had been a resident for the past 7 years.

She was born May 9, 1908 near Lockridge, the daughter of Fredrick Simon and Lorena LYON DALLNER. She attended Union #1 one room school near her home, as a child. And graduated from Fairfield High School in 1927, where she received her Normal teaching certificate.

She taught at Elm Grove school north of Salina for 2 years.

On August 4, 1929 she married Frank Emerson MASDEN at the Methodist Church in Fairfield. They settled on the MASDEN family farm 7 miles northeast of Fairfield in a little farm community called Richwoods. To this union 3 daughters were born. Marilyn Inez, Judith Ann and Janet Kay. Eileen's early married life was spent in a little house without electricity or running water but she tended a large garden and her chickens and canned for the winter. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield, where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the Priscilla Circle and was honored as one of the oldest members of the church. She was also a member of the Salina Rebecca Lodge, active in 4-H where she served as a leader and was a member of the Farm Bureau where she served as committee woman. She was a member of the Richwoods Merry Makers and Willing Workers. She was a member of the D.A.R. and a member of the Colonial Order of the Crown, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

After their retirement Emerson and Eileen sold the farm and moved to Fairfield. Eileen enjoyed traveling, antiqueing, and playing bridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband on February 14, 1984, her parents, one daughter Judith MURPHY, and all of her siblings: Espy DALLNER, Rex DALLNER, Dale DALLNER, Erma KOPP and Beatrice DALLNER. Eileen was a loving mother, grandmother, and a loyal friend. She was the last person with the MASDEN name in Iowa. In May, 2008 she would have been 100 years old.

Surviving are her 2 daughters Marilyn (Robert) CLARK of Chariton, Iowa; and Janet (Truman) FRETHEIM of Marion, Iowa. 7 grandchildren: Robert J. (Geri) CLARK, Christine (Bryant) AMOS, Amy (Mark) JONES, Michelle FRETHEIM, Scott FRETHEIM, Kevin MURPHY and James (Tanya) MURPHY, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, September 24th at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Metz officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. at the Raymond Funeral Home.

A memorial in Eileen's name has been established to the First United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
