SHELANGOSKI, Ernest Roy -- Ernest Roy SHELANGOSKI age 63 of Birmingham died Friday, August 24, 2007 at a hospice house in Hiawatha, Iowa.

Born August 13, 1944 at Rock Island, Illinois, he was the son of Clifford L. and Helen HESTON SHELANGOSKI.

Ernie lived in Birmingham when he was a child and in his later years.

He worked at the Dexter Company for 28 years.

Ernie enjoyed fishing in the river, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the V.F.W.

Deceased family members include his son Jason Alan SHELANGOSKI, his parents, a brother Glen Ray SHELANGOSKI and a sister Marsha SHELANGOSKI.

Surviving are his children Lisa (Jim) JAACKS, Greg SHELANGOSKI and Steve (Cindy) SHELANGOSKI; step children Stacie HECKART and Shannon SPRAGUE, grandchildren Casey, Rachel, Maya and Meghan SHELANGOSKI and Sarah and Amanda JAACKS. One brother Wayne (Mona) SHELANGOSKI; sisters Marilyn POWELL, Judy (Edwin) PATRICK, Shirley SHELANGOSKI, Cheryl (Bill) HUNTOON, Beverly (Robert) TAYLOR and sister-in-law Shelley SHELANGOSKI.

An open visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham.

Cremation will be accorded with private burial at a later time.

Memorials may be made to the new shelter at the Birmingham City Park.

Arrangements are in the care of Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham.
