Benjamin Terry Leeper, 68, of Brighton died at 5:20 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at Halcyon House in Washington, Iowa.

A service is set for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Brighton United Church, with the Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton.

Family visitation will be from 1:30-3 p.m. and 4:30-6 p.m. Sunday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton. Memorials to Brighton United Church or Hospice of Washington County may be left at the funeral home, church or mailed to the family at 2996 Dogwood Ave., Brighton 52540.

Mr. Leeper was born April 21, 1937, near Brighton, the son of Clifford W. and Frances P. Derby Leeper. He married Lou Hough March 10, 1968, in Washington.

Mr. Leeper grew up in the Brighton area. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1955 and Iowa State University in 1961 with a bachelor’s degree in farm operation. He owned and operated a farm near Brighton.

Mr. Leeper was an elder of the Presbyterian Church of Brighton and Brighton United Church. He was a charter member of the Iowa Cattleman’s Association, a member of the Farm Bureau and Knights of Pythias Lodge.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cheryl D. Leeper of Ely and Terri Seidl and husband Matthew of Indianola; one granddaughter; his mother; three sisters, Kathryn West of Altoona, Lelani Clark of Big Spring, Texas, and Beth Johnson of Des Moines; and two brothers, Charles Leeper of Brighton and Clifford “Kit” Leeper of Wichita Falls, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father.
