Fri., March 10, 2006Mary Lucile KEMP, 83, of Lafayette, Colo., formerly of rural Keosauqua, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, in Lafayette.
A service was held March 1 in Longmont, Colo. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place April 5 at Saint John’s Catholic Church in Russellville, Ariz., with burial in Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ariz.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, 2594 Trail Ridge Drive, Lafayette 80026, or Heifer International, PO Box 1692, Merrifield, Va. 22116-9861.
Mrs. KEMP was born July 30, 1922, in Fairfield, the daughter of John J. and Martha Stanefski BURKE. She married Howard E. KEMP Feb. 16, 1946, in Fairfield. He died Nov. 29, 1999.
Mrs. KEMP graduated from Keosauqua High School and attended nursing school in Ottumwa. She farmed with her husband in the Keosauqua and Douds area and later worked as a secretary at Grace Engineering in Russellville. She had lived in Longmont and Lafayette since November of 2005.
Mrs. KEMP was a member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont.
She was interested in people and art.
Surviving are three nieces, including Sandra stump [sic] of Libertyville and three nephews, including George “Red” HARRISON of Keosauqua and Daniel HARRISON of Fairfield.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Andrew and Raymond BURKE; and four sisters, Anne FAULKNER, Martha HARRISON, Jane BURKE and Rosalie SIPLA.
