CHAPMAN, Grace M. -- Grace M. CHAPMAN, 89, of Eldon, died Saturday, July 21, 2007, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

A memorial service is being planned at a later date in Flagler Beach, Fla., with inurnment in St. Mary's Cemetery in Korona, Fla. The body has been cremated.

Memorials may directed to the Welcoming Family of Faith building fund at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fairfield or Iowa Heritage Foundation of the American Gothic House Center in Eldon.

Kremer Funeral Home in Eldon is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. CHAPMAN was born Aug. 19, 1917, in Rochester, N.Y., the daughter of Charles and Priscilla WHITE McCABE. She married Stanley CHAPMAN Sept. 14, 1940, in Cherryvale, Va. He died Oct. 3, 1997.

Mrs. CHAPMAN lived most of her adult life in North Linthicum, Md., and Flagler Beach, Fla., before moving to Eldon to live with her daughter. She was previously employed by the Civil Service Administration for the Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C., and later by the Army Missile Shop at Ft. Meade, Md.

Mrs. CHAPMAN was a member of the Secular Third Order of the St. Francis, the steering committee that founded the Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, Md., and the North Linthicum Improvement Association, where she held various offices. She also was an adult literacy volunteer for many years.

Survivors include three daughters, Elaine McCORRY and husband J.B. of Rochester, N.Y., Priscilla COFFMAN and husband Dale of Eldon and Monica STUA and husband Joe of Flagler Beach; five sons, Mike CHAPMAN and wife Mary Ellen of Ormond, Fla., Scott CHAPMAN and partner Stephen JOHNSON of Columbia, Md., Brian CHAPMAN and wife Patricia of Bel Air, Md., Steven CHAPMAN and wife Sue of Arnold, Md., and Frank CHAPMAN and wife Cathy of Arnold, Md.; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one brother, Vincent McCABE of Rochester, N.Y.; and two sisters, Frances BROUGHTON of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Marlene LACY of Ft. Pierce, Fla.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Bonnie CREWS and Rose LUKE; three brothers, Charles, Joseph and Matthew McCABE; and one grandson.
