JOHNSON, Douglas S. -- Douglas S. JOHNSON, 59, of Fairfield, died Thursday afternoon, July 26, 2007.

JOHNSON, Douglas S. -- Douglas S. JOHNSON, 59, of Fairfield, died Thursday afternoon, July 26, 2007.
A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Marvin Robeck officiating. Interment will be in Bethesda Cemetery east of Fairfield.
Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Memorials have been established to First Lutheran Church in Fairfield and to the Jefferson County Fair Trust.
Mr. JOHNSON was born Sept. 4, 1947, in Fairfield, the son of Donald C. and Doris K. RINGELSPACH JOHNSON. He married Lynne SHAFER June 26, 1976, at First Baptist Church in Keokuk.
Mr. JOHNSON was a lifetime resident of the Fairfield community. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1965 and received his degree in agriculture from Iowa State University in Ames in 1971. His life-long career was in agriculture -- grain and livestock farming.
Mr. JOHNSON was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fairfield where he had served on the council. He had been active in 4-H and FFA and served on the Jefferson County Fair Board for 37 years, serving as fair board president for many years. He served on the Jefferson County Hospital Board of Trustees, the county ambulance board and the committee for the sesquicentennial horse caravan to the Iowa State Fair. He was a member of the Pork Producers and Beef Producers and was the second generation of his family to be named Wallace Farmer Master Farmer.
He enjoyed giving farm tours to anyone, including school children and international visitors.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Eric JOHNSON and wife Jenna of Iowa City and Kristofor JOHNSON of Fairfield; one daughter, Jami JOHNSON of Keystone, Colo.; his parents of Fairfield; and two sisters, Dian JOHNSON of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Dee SANDQUIST of Camas, Wash.
