Edith SCHILLERSTROM, 94, of Fairfield, died today, Thursday, July 19, 2007, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

Arrangements are pending at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Edith Viola SCHILLERSTROM

Edith Viola SCHILLERSTROM, 94, of Fairfield, died Thursday, July 19, 2007, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Martin Robeck officiating. Interment will follow in Upper Richwoods Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the family present from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church or American Diabetes Association. Cards and memorials may be sent to PO Box 362, Washington, IA 52353.

Mrs. SCHILLERSTROM was born Dec. 18, 1912, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Edwin C. and Mary R. LYON HENDRICKS. She married Ralph C. SCHILLERSTROM April 14, 1935. He died May 3, 1974.

Mrs. SCHILLERSTROM graduated from Fairfield High School in 1930 and attended Fort Madison Business College, graduating in 1931. She and her husband lived on the farm where she was born until 1983. She was employed at the Dexter Company and worked 21 years in the automobile department of the Jefferson County Treasurer's Office, retiring in 1975.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church. She was involved in Republican Women and Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

She enjoyed quilting, Bible study, playing the piano, country music and playing cards.

Survivors include three children, Roy SCHILLERSTROM of Washington, Elizabeth WEST and husband Floyd of Fairfield and Mary JARVIS and husband Oren of Washington; one daughter-in-law, Darlene SCHILLERSTROM; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert; one stepgrandson; and one brother, Merle.
