Lana Sue HECKETHORN, 55, of Stockport, Iowa lost her battle with liver cancer on Tuesday morning, January 17, 2006 in her home surrounded by her family.

Lana was born on July 29, 1950 in Yakima, Washington to Remmel and Ruby DOCKINS.

When she was five she and her family moved to the Gassville, Arkansas area where she graduated in 1968 from Cotter High School.

On March 27, 1970 Lana married Joe HECKETHORN in Mountain Home, Arkansas moving to Van Buren County, Iowa where they have resided on their farm for the past 35 years.

Lana worked for the Stockport Post Office for 26 years where she greeted each person with her beautiful smile, sparkling blue eyes, and genuine willingness to help. In 1994 Lana became the Postmistress of Stockport Post Office. She demonstrated her desire to help her community by being an active member in the Stockport American Legion Auxiliary for 18 years and a member of the LLG Club.

Lana is preceded in death by her father Remmel DOCKINS, her sister Marsha UCHMAN and grandson Justus PALMER.

Lana is survived by her husband, Joe HECKETHORN, her children Joe-Joe HECKETHORN of Stockport, Iowa, her daughter Jennifer PALMER of Minneapolis, Minnesota, her grandson Isaac PALMER, her mother Ruby WILLBANKS of Gassville, Arkansas and her siblings David DOCKINS of Eldon, Missouri and Brenda NEAL of Gassville, Arkansas.

A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2006 at the Stockport Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Renken officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 19th from 6-7 p.m. at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. Cards and memorials may be sent to 29349 – 115th St., Stockport, Iowa 52651.
