Marjorie M. HARRIS, 88, of Iowa City, formerly of Fairfield, died Sunday morning, Jan. 22, 2006, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

A service is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Virginia United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mike Metz officiating. Burial will be in New Virginia Cemetery in New Virginia.

A family visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield. Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. HARRIS was born July 21, 1917, in New Virginia, the daughter of Jacob Charles and Mary Alice Andrews NINE. She married LeRoy W. HARRIS Oct. 31, 1936, in Monmouth, Ill. He died July 15, 1996.

Mrs. HARRIS grew up in New Virginia and Indianola and graduated from New Virginia High School. She and her husband moved to Lamoni in 1949, then to Fairfield in 1957. She lived in Iowa City for the past two years. She worked at the New Virginia school, the telephone office in Lamoni and at the Jefferson County Hospital office.

Mrs. HARRIS was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fairfield. She was active in numerous bridge and card clubs. She was a 50-year member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include one daughter, Beverly ALLEN and husband Jim of Iowa City; three grandsons; and two great-grandsons.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Raymond NINE; and two sisters, Inez RUNYAN and Lucille HILTON.
