WORKMAN, Ralph W. -- Ralph W. WORKMAN, 91, of Ottumwa, died at 7:55 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2007, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
A service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church in Ottumwa, with the Rev. Bill Kanne officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation began at 9 a.m. today at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, where family will be present from 5-7 p.m. and a Masonic service will be at 7 p.m.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church or Amaranth Diabetes Association.
Mr. WORKMAN was born Sept. 4, 1915, in Ottumwa, the son of Willis and Harriett WALKER WORKMAN. He married Luella GILYEART Oct. 17, 1944. She died Aug. 4, 1991.
Mr. WORKMAN graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1933. He took correspondence from Iowa State University. For more than 30 years he was an owner of Workman Electric.
Mr. WORKMAN was a member of First Christian Church where he was Elder Emeritus. He was a member of Empire Masonic Lodge No. 269 AF & AM, a 69-year member of the Masonic lodge and the oldest Mason in Ottumwa. He was a member and past High Priest of Clinton Chapter No. 9, member and past Illustrious Master of Ottumwa Council No. 31, member and past Commander of Malta Commandery No. 31, past patron of Ottumwa Chapter No. 112 Order of Eastern Star and past patron of Rose Chapter No. 552 Order of Eastern Star, Christina Court No. 3 Order of Amaranth and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Survivors include one daughter, Janet FISHER and husband Bill of Fairfield and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Bea WORKMAN.
