WOODRUM, Roy S. -- Roy S. WOODRUM, 92, of Keosauqua, died at 8:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

A funeral was at 2 p.m. today at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. James McGaffey officiating.

Memorials to Keosauqua Senior Citizen Center or Van Buren Good Samaritan Center may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at PO Box 324, Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. WOODRUM was born Dec. 27, 1914, in Bonner Springs, Kan., the son of Sherman and Laura ICENOGGLE WOODRUM. He married Irene R. CARLSON May 28, 1936, in Oakville. She died March 28, 1985. He married Edna ATWELL Dec. 28, 1985. She died Jan. 26, 2004.

Mr. WOODRUM was orphaned as a boy and lived his early life in Kansas. As a young man, he worked on building the Alaskan highway. He also served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Oakville. He and his first wife operated Lathrop Bag Company in Fairfield for a number of years. He also worked as a self-employed painter, as a painter for National Tank Company and as a custodian for the Fairfield Community School District. He and his second wife lived in Watega, Ill. He had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center since August 2003.

Mr. WOODRUM served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He had been a member of the Keosauqua Lions Club.

Survivors include one daughter, Colleen KISLING of Keosauqua; three sons, Larry WOODRUM of Keosauqua, Robert WOODRUM of Mount Pleasant and Ronald WOODRUM of Eldon; three grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; and two stepdaughters.

He was the last surviving member of a family of several brothers and sisters.
