WELLS, Fern C. 'Red' -- Fern C. "Red" WELLS, 97, of Keosauqua, died at 10:50 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

A service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. ellis andrews (sic - lower case) officiating. Burial, with military rites by Russell-Strait Post, will be in Lebanon Cemetery.

Open visitation begins at 4 p.m. tonday (sic) at the funeral home, with family present from 5-6 p.m.

Memorials to Lebanon Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 13447 Route J-40, Milton 52570.

Mr. WELLS was born Feb. 24, 1909 near Milton, the son of N C Clay and Sylvia BINGAMAN WELLS.

Mr. WELLS served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific theater during World War II.

He lived in Traer and Marshalltown where he worked at Marshalltown Trowel Company in Montana. He retired to Milton and moved to the Good Samaritan Center in October 2001.

Mr. WELLS was a lifetime member of American Legion Russell-Strait Post No. 483 of Milton.

Survivors include one sister, Mary CHAPLIN of Keosauqua.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Harold WELLS, Clarence WELLS and Hollis WELLS; two sisters, Elizabeth HENDRICKS and Verla WELLS.
