SNYDER, R. Keith -- R. Keith SNYDER, 85, of Stockport, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Stockport Christian Church, with the Rev. John Griffith officiating. Burial, with military rites by American Legion Elvin E. Cecil Post No. 147 of Stockport, will be in Spencer Cemetery in Stockport.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua where the family will be present from 7-8 p.m.

Memorials to Stockport Christian Church or Spencer Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at PO Box 54, Stockport 52651.

Mr. SNYDER was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Garden Grove, the son of Forrest Roy and Ruby PHIPPS SNYDER. He married Geraldine AKIN Aug. 10, 1945, in Dermott, Ariz.

Mr. SNYDER grew up in Decatur County and graduated from Garden Grove High School. His family moved to Stockport where they operated a produce business in 1943.

Mr. SNYDER was a member of Stockport Christian Church. He also was a member of American Legion Elvin E. Cecil Post No. 147 and a former member of Stockport Odd Fellows Lodge. He had been the Stockport fire chief for 20 years.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Raymond SNYDER and wife Ellen of Stockport; two daughters, Connie McWILLIAMS and husband Gary of Mount Pleasant and Sara KEARNEY and husband Michael of Stockport; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jeri PRATT of Chillicothe, Mo., and Louise LANAM of Quarryville, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Forrest and Norman "Butch" SNYDER; and two sisters, Donna CARRICO and Ruby DOROTHY.
