SKAGGS, Phyllis J. COX -- Phyllis J. COX SKAGGS, 69, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Batavia, died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant.

The body has been cremated, and a graveside service will be at a later date in Oakland Mills Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society. Memorials may be sent to Becky FRAISE at PO Box 843 in Mount Pleasant.

Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. SKAGGS was born July 24, 1937, in Stahl, Mo., the daughter of Hugh and Edith BROCKHART POLSON. She married Harold SKAGGS April 2, 1992, in Mount Pleasant.

Mrs. SKAGGS had worked at Parsons College and Nelson Nursing Home, both in Fairfield, and at Hardees.

She was a Cubs fan.

Survivors include seven children, Michelle ADOLPHSON and husband Harvey of Eastlake, Mich., Becky FRAISE and husband Mike of Mount Pleasant, Lisa CAUDILL, Anita KNICKEL, Carol HOLLMAN and Sheri GEORGE, all of Indiana, and Bobby SKAGGS and wife Laura of Hillsboro; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dale POLSON and Henry POLSON, both of Knoxville, and Bud POLSON of Mount Pleasant; and one sister, Karen FISHER of Ottumwa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Jane DEUSER and Dorothy SWANSON; and one brother, Herbert "Shorty" POLSON.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Oakland Mills Cemetery in rural Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. John Zimmerman officiating.

Family visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.
