SCHOOLEY, Leonard O. 'Shark' -- Leonard O. "Shark" SCHOOLEY, 97, formerly of the Abingdon area, died Sunday, May 13, 2007, at Jefferson County Hospital Living Care Center in Fairfield.

Arrangements are pending at Kremer Funeral Chapel in Batavia.

SCHOOLEY, Leonard O. 'Sharkey' -- Leonard O. "Sharkey" SCHOOLEY, 97, formerly of the Abingdon area, died Sunday, May 13, 2007, at Jefferson County Hospital Living Care Center in Fairfield.

A funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kremer Funeral Chapel in Batavia, with the Rev. Harlan Van Voorst officiating. Interment will be in Abingdon Cemetery.

Open visitation began at 1 p.m. today at the funeral chapel, where family will be present from 7-7:30 p.m. A Masonic service by the Kilwinning Masonic Lodge will start at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to Kilwinning Masonic Lodge No. 198 of Batavia.

Mr. SCHOOLEY was born April 14, 1910, in Polk Township in Jefferson County, the son of Thomas and Levina KIEWS SCHOOLEY.

Mr. SCHOOLEY was raised and educated in the Abingdon area. He graduated from Packwood High School in 1929. He farmed his entire adult life in the Abingdon area.

Mr. SCHOOLEY was a member of Abingdon Christian Church and was a 50-year member of Kilwinning Masonic Lodge No. 198 of Batavia.

He enjoyed fishing and playing baseball.

Survivors include one brother, W.K. "Bud" SCHOOLEY of Fairfield and his special friend Bernice COBB of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Merville SCHOOLEY.
