SELZLER, Michael M. -- Michael M. SELZLER, 59, of Keosauqua, died at 2:48 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.
A graveside service, with the casket remaining closed at his request, is planned for 3:30 p.m. today at Forbes Cemetery north of Keosauqua, with the Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating. Military rites will be carried out by members of Beer-Barker Post 113 of the Keosauqua American Legion.
No visitation is planned, but after the service, family and friends will gather at John Barber Post 4563, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Keosauqua.
Memorials to Forbes Cemetery may be left at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua or the VFW.
Mr. SELZLER was born March 4, 1947, in Buffalo, Minn., the son of Gabriel and Helen PETERSON SELZLER.
He graduated from Buffalo High School, served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam and was awarded two Purple Heart medals. He served as an honor guard in Washington, D.C., lived in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, then moved to Keosauqua in the mid-1970s, where he was self-employed.
Mr. SELZLER was a member of John Barber Post 4563, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include one brother, Randall SELZLER of Coweta, Okla.; and one sister, Kathleen SELZLER LIPPERT of Sabetha, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Charles SELZLER.
