REED, Charles J. -- Charles J. REED, 88, of Richland, died early Sunday, April 22, 2007, at home.
A service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church in Richland, with the Rev. Charles J. Fladung officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery.
Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, with Prayers for a Christian Wake beginning at 7 p.m. at the church.
Memorials have been established to the Richland Fire Department and Richland First Responders.
Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. REED was born Sept. 29, 1918, in rural Ollie, the son of Sam and Mary SIEREN REED. He married Louise PECK Oct. 10, 1942, in Clear Creek Catholic Church. She died June 19, 1997.
Mr. REED grew up in the Clear Creek area and attended country school there. In 1948, he and his wife moved to Richland where he farmed and raised cattle until he retired at age 85.
Mr. REED was a member of Mother Cabrini Catholic Church in Richland.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel REED and wife Lois of Kalona and Gene REED of Richland; two daughters, Linda BOTT and husband Mike of Fort Dodge and Nancy GLANDON and husband Gary of Washington, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother, Eugene REED of Fairfield; and special friend Marge ADAMS.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Betty WELLS; one great-granddaughter; and four sisters, Helen REED, Marietta HORRAS, Marie HORRAS and Roseanna KLAUB.
