Frank LeRoy FERREL Sr., 85, of Kilbourne, died at 2:22 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

A funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Michael Mosier officiating. Cremation will follow the service, with private burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery north of Douds.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where family will be present from 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Memorials to Mount Moriah Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 17045 Lark Ave., Birmingham 52535.

Mr. FERREL was born Sept. 1, 1921, near Libertyville, the son of Frank M. and Golde Laughlin FERREL. He married Dorothy M. BEDFORD Oct. 20, 1946, in Eldon. She died April 7, 2003.

Mr. FERREL attended Douds High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Africa and Europe during World War II.

Mr. FERREL farmed and was employed at Dexter Company in Fairfield for 33 years. He lived most of his adult life in the Douds and Kilbourne area.

Survivors include one son, Frank FERREL Jr. and wife Charolette; two daughters, Virginia LATHROP and husband Charles and Beverly JESTER and husband Jim, all of Kilbourne; six grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; one stepgreat-great-granddaughter; and one sister, Betty GONTERMAN of Kilbourne.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenneth FERREL; and two brothers, Darrel and Richard FERREL.
