Steve “Frog” FARNSWORTH, 57, of Mount Pleasant died unexpectedly Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, in the Henry County Health Center emergency room.

A service is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Kelly officiating. Mr. FARNSWORTH will be cremated following the service.

Visitation began at noon today at the chapel, with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Memorials have been established to the American Cancer Society and Mrs. Terry Mertens’ living skills classroom at Van Allen Elementary School.

Mr. FARNSWORTH was born on Oct. 29, 1948, in Burlington, the son of Monte K. and Virginia D. Miller FARNSWORTH. He married Susan Stanley HUNTER Oct. 30, 1998, at First Presbyterian Church in Mount Pleasant.

Mr. FARNSWORTH grew up in New London and graduated from New London High School in 1967. He moved to Mount Pleasant in January of 1982. After high school graduation, he worked for Heatilator as a forklift driver. For many years, he was a bookkeeper for J & S Ice. He was a commercial driver for Ceco Buildings of Mount Pleasant and was a mechanic at Experian for eight years. Until the time of his death, he worked part time for Jennings’ Tire and had been a bus driver for the Mount Pleasant School District since 2000.

Mr. FARNSWORTH was a member of the Mount Pleasant Moose Lodge 1003 and an adult committee member of the Girl Scouts of Shining Trail Council.

He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters and was a race car fan, including both NASCAR and local races.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Michael HUNTER and wife Stephanie of Des Moines; one daughter, Dianne KEMP and husband Scott of Urbandale; two granddaughters; one brother, Paul FARNSWORTH of Mount Pleasant; and one sister, Lila STEWARD of New London.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry FARNSWORTH.
