Roger M. FARMER, 84, of Fairfield died after failing health at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2006, at Parkview Care Center.

The funeral is set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield with military rites.

Family visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Marlene WYATT, 2020 Libertyville Road, Fairfield 52556.

Mr. FARMER was born March 15, 1921, in Batavia, the son of George Washington and Ruth Madge Sutherlin McCleary FARMER. He married Florence LEAFGREEN March 3, 1949, in Hiawatha, Kan.

Mr. FARMER graduated from Fairfield High School in 1939. He then farmed with his family on their homestead in Batavia. He later farmed until 1952 on a farm near Libertyville and then went to work at Fairfield Aluminum Castings until his retirement in 1988.

Mr. FARMER served five years in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II from December of 1941 to June 30, 1947. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He enjoyed fishing, bowling, Chicago Cubs baseball, reading and word puzzle books.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Roger and wife Cathy of Marietta, Ga., George and wife Krista of Appex, N.C., and Randy and wife Laurie of Fairfield; four daughters, Kathy WILLIAMS and husband Charles of Fairfield, Madge SCHMITTER and husband Doug of Stockport, Georgia SAUERE and husband Phil of Bladensburg and Marlene WYATT and husband William of Fairfield; 25 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Marvin FARMER.
