NELSON, John L. 'Bud' Jr. -- John L. "Bud" NELSON Jr., 73, of Fairfield, died today, Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.

A graveside memorial services (sic) will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, with the Rev. Richard White and the Rev. John Benedict officiating.

Family visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Cards and memorials may be sent to 906 N. Ninth St., Fairfield 52556.

Mr. NELSON was born Dec. 14, 1933, in Washingon, Iowa, the son of John Lloyd NELSON Sr. and Mabel Irene WALKER NELSON EDGERLY. He married D. JoAnn LUNDQUIST Dec. 22, 1954. She died April 24, 1988.

Mr. NELSON grew up in the Douds area and attended Douds High School. He served in the U.S. Navy for eight years. He was employed at the Dexter Company for more than 30 years. He also mowed yards and was the security guard during the Jefferson County Fair.

Mr. NELSON was a charter member of Fredonia Independent Full Gospel and Foursquare Church.

He enjoyed his family, animals, especially horses, and hunting raccoons and squirrels.

Survivors include six children, Joyce CALHOUN, James NELSON, Joseph NELSON, Janeen GARDNER and husband Peter, Jana HAYNES and Jeffrey NELSON and wife Sheri, all of Fairfield, and Janeen GARDNER of Belmond; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Connie HULL of Chariton.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Delores COLE HEITMEIER; and infant twin sisters.
