LUKE, Eugene Richard -- Eugene Richard LUKE, 76, formerly of Glasgow and Fairfield, died at 11:58 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, at VA Central Iowa Healthcare System-Knoxville Division in Knoxville.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home and Crematory in Fairfield.
Behner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LUKE, Eugene Richard -- Eugene Richard LUKE, 76, of Knoxville, died at 11:58 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, at V.A. Central Iowa Health Care in Knoxville.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Jim Cecil officiating. The body has been cremated. Burial of cremains will be at a later date in Troy Cemetery.
No family visitation is planned. A register may be signed until 4 p.m. today or from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the family. Cards and memorials may be sent to 1205 S. Fifth St., Fairfield 52556.

Mr. LUKE was born March 19, 1930, in Chadron, Neb., the son of Elmer LUKE Sr. and Rose SCOTT LUKE.
Mr. LUKE spent most of his life in the Glasgow and Fairfield areas. He worked in the foundry at American Chain and Cable and Dexter Company. He also worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown.
Mr. LUKE served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He was a member of VFW Post No. 2271.
Mr. LUKE's interests included cowboy music, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping.
Survivors include three sons, Rick LUKE of Fairfield, Ron LUKE and wife Lori of Fairfield and Randy WINTERS of Colona, Ill.; six grandchildren; five sisters, Judy BRUDERS and Ida KERR, both of Fairfield, Cleone DOWNING of Wheatfield, Ind., Lydia MILLER of Shulerville, S.C., and Minnie GREEN of Alabama; and one brother, Melvin LUKE of Glasgow.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dorothy LUKE; and two brothers, Robert and Elmer LUKE Jr.
