HESTER, Melba M. -- Melba M. HESTER, 81, of Mount Sterling, died at 4:40 a.m. today, Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.
Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

HESTER, Melba M. -- Melba M. HESTER, 81, of Mount Sterling, died at 4:40 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.
A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.
Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 4-5 p.m.
Memorials may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 401 First St., Mount Sterling 52573.
Mrs. HESTER was born Jan. 29, 1926, in Strawberry Point, the daughter of Louis and Flora WILLIAMS MILLER. She married Roy GREEN and later Donald HESTER. Both preceded her in death.
Mrs. HESTER had lived in Strawberry Point, Denver. Colo., Phoenix, Memphis, Mo., and Milton. She lived in Mount Sterling the past five years. Mrs. HESTER had been a buyer for a clothing store and had operated a nursing home in Phoenix.
She was a member of the Elks Lodge in Phoenix.
Survivors include her companion, Donald BUTNER of Mount Sterling; three sons, Fred GREEN of Highland, Texas, Louis GREEN of Lubbock, Texas, and James GREEN of Florence, Ariz.; two sisters, Blanche THOMAS of Strawberry Point and Gloria TRUMBAUER of Waterloo; three brothers, Robert MILLER of Earlville, Raymond MILLER of Evansdale and Wilbur MILLER of Osage; and several grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Roy GREEN; one daughter, Verla DOWNEY FERGUSON; one brother, Herbert MILLER; and one sister, Dora MILLER.
