HESSELTINE, Cecil Pearl -- Cecil Pearl HESSELTINE, 90, formerly of Brighton, died at 11:05 a.m. Sunday, April 29, 2007, at Parkview Home in Wayland.

A service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Brighton United Church, with the Rev. Robert Wolf officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton.

Open visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton, where family will be present from 7-8 p.m.

Memorials have been established to Independent Bible Church of Wayland or Great River Hospice of Burlington.

Mrs. HESSELTINE was born Sept. 26, 1916, in Brighton, the daughter of William and Mary CURTIS TURNER DeWOLF. She married Alvin HESSELTINE Dec. 20, 1933, in Mount Pleasant. He died Feb. 19, 1989.

Mrs. HESSELTINE attended Brighton schools. She and her husband farmed in the Brighton area and moved into Brighton in 1958. She was a housewife and babysitter.

She was a member of Walnut Women's Club for many years and was a longtime member of Independent Bible Church in Wayland. She had also attended Brighton United Church.

Mrs. HESSELTINE enjoyed embroidery and quilting, as well as fishing and hunting mushrooms.

Survivors include two sons, Richard HESSELTINE and wife Judy of Floris and James HESSELTINE and wife Dawn of Brighton; two daughters, Janice TURNER and husband Bill of Wayland and Marilyn RICH and husband Ron of Rifle, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Haleen McKAY of Russel.

In addition to her husband, she ws preceded in death by her parents; one infant son, Alvin Jr.; one infant great-grandson; two infant great-great-granddaughters; two brothers, Orie and Harold DeWOLF; and one sister, Opal LEMLEY.
