GARMOE, Margaret D. -- Margaret D. GARMOE, 72, of Mount Pleasant, died Thursday, April 19, 2007, at New London Nursing and Rehab Center.
A funeral took place this morning at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Harold Dorsey officiating. Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the New London Nursing and Rehab Center activity fund.
Mrs. GARMOE was born Jan. 8, 1935, in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of Roy and Dorothy LONG FORD. She married Donald R. GARMOE Sept. 3, 1950, in Mount Pleasant.
Mrs. GARMOE received her education in Mount Pleasant schools. In her early years, she worked as a cashier at Walgren's Market and Beaver's Market. She retired from the Hy-Vee Food Store after 30 years of employment Sept. 8, 2000.
Mrs. GARMOE was a member of the Mount Pleasant Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening and playing bingo.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Richard GARMOE and wife Mary Lou of Imperial, Mo., and Mike GARMOE and wife Debra of Mount Pleasant; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary STONEHOUSE and Doris Ann BIGGS, both of Mount Pleasant; and two brothers, Wayne FORD and Paul FORD, both of Mount Pleasant.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Carl FORD, LeRoy FORD and Everett FORD; and two sisters, Martha MEYER and Lucille LEWIS.
