DUTTON, Dorothy L. – Dorothy L. DUTTON, 78, of Rockville, Md., formerly of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at her daughter’s home.
A graveside and committal service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Home Cemetery.
Visitation, with family present, will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant.
Mrs. DUTTON was born July 23, 1928, near Mount Union, the daughter of Richard Howard and Wilma WEINRICH DUTTON. She married Holland Cline CORNICK July 13, 1948. He preceded her in death. She later married Harold Russell HECKENBURG Sept. 5, 1992. He also preceded her in death.
Mrs. DUTTON was a 1946 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. She enrolled in the Burlington Beauty College and graduated from there in 1947. She was employed in the security department of the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant from 1967-1974. She graduated from Massage Therapy School in Mesa, Ariz., in 1975.
Mrs. DUTTON was a member of Social Afternoon Club, Friendly Neighbor’s Club and Women’s Conservation League. She was a Girl Scout troop leader, a member and past president of Henry County Republican Women and a member of Daughters of the American Revolution.
She enjoyed gardening, traveling, big band music, dancing, camping and campfire activities.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda CORNICK HANSEN and husband Brian of Rockville, Md., and Anita CORNICK EGBERT and husband Mark of Orem, Utah; one son, Linn Albert CORNICK and wife Reyna of San Diego, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and relatives in the Fairfield area.
