Charles Wayne BUZZARD, 65, of Stockport died at 12:04 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2006, in the Van Buren County Hospital emergency room in Keosauqua.

A service is set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Church of the Nazarene in Fairfield, with the Rev. Howard Innis officiating. Burial with military rites by the Elvin E. Cecil American Legion Post will be in Purdom Cemetery in Keosauqua.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with family present from 3-4 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. Memorials to First Church of the Nazarene or the Stockport Public Library may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 715 Union St., Stockport 52651.

Mr. BUZZARD was born Aug. 15, 1940, near Martinsville, Mo., the son of James W. and Josie Swartz BUZZARD. He married Anna “Annie” GLENN May 24, 1958, in Bethany, Mo.

Mr. BUZZARD was associated with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for 32 years, including his service as a park ranger at Lacey-Keosauqua State Park from 1972-1999 when he retired to Stockport. During his retirement, he worked on a farm for Richard Brombaugh.

Mr. BUZZARD was a member of First Church of the Nazarene where he served on the church board and as a trustee. He served in the U.S. Army during the Berlin crisis from 1961-1962 and was a member of Elvin E. Cecil American Legion Post 147 of Stockport. He was president of the Stockport Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Dena COOK of Fairfield, Debra TORRES and husband Victor of Indianola and Diana ELLIOTT and husband Bill of Peru, Ind.; five grandchildren; three brothers, Robert SWARTZ of Winston, Mo., Jimmie BUZZARD of Anita, Okla., and Larry BUZZARD of Trenton, Mo.; and three sisters, Mary LEWIS of Bethany, Mo., Lucille MCCLURE of Bethany, Mo., and Doris NEIMAN of Charlotte, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Carmel Ann BUZZARD.
