Genevieve M. WOERDEMAN, 85, of Houghton, passed away at 11:05 p.m. Sunday July 23, 2006 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Born April 30, 1921 at Marshalltown, Iowa she was the daughter of Francis and Hattie Fines DUNN. On February 23, 1946 she married John C. WOERDEMAN at St. Ambrose Cathedral in Des Moines where she was a member of the choir. John preceded her in death of February 14, 1984. Survivors include: two daughters Elizabeth (Roger) REA of Omaha, Nebraska and Jolene WOERDEMAN of Des Moines, one sister-in-law Ella WOERDEMAN of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, one son Gerald, three brothers, and two sisters. Genevieve was a graduate of AIB in Des Moines. She worked for six years prior to her marriage at the American Agricultural Association. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Houghton, Daughters of Isabella, and the Houghton Quilters Club. What meant most to Genny were here family and friends.

Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2006 at the St. John’s Catholic Church in Houghton. The rosary will be recited there at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Gary Beckman as celebrant. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Houghton. In honor of her son Gerald, memorials can be made to the Brain Cancer Research.
