Marjaleen Ruth WAMSLEY, 79, of Burlington, died at 9:10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at Burlington Care Center.

A funeral was at 10:30 a.m. today at Bethany Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Carl Engstrom officiating. Interment was in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to Bethany Lutheran Church.

Mrs. WAMSLEY was born Dec. 21, 1926, in Fairfield, the daughter of Guy and Gladys Kirk HILLMAN. She married Glenn E. WAMSLEY July 2, 1944, in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Mrs. WAMSLEY was a 1944 graduate of Fairfield High School. She worked as a secretary at Washington School for 27 years, retiring in 1987.

Mrs. WAMSLEY was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school for 20 years. She also was a member of Rebecca Circle, was president of the Parent Teachers Association at Washington School, was president of Central Council Parent Teachers Association and was a den mother for Cub Scouts Pack No. 4.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Rick WAMSLEY and wife Linda of Carman, Ill., James WAMSLEY and wife Mariangela RIVERS of Pfafftown, N.C., and Dennis WAMSLEY and wife Janis of Conroe, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
