Mamie V. OLSON, 106, of Mount Pleasant, died Friday, June 30, 2006, at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Phil Borleske officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Family visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church or Swedish Historical Society.

Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home of Mount Pleasant is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. OLSON was born April 8, 1900, in Swedesburg, the daughter of Andrew Frederick E. and Anna Sofia Carlson OLSON.

Ms. OLSON began her teaching career in 1919 at Crawford Country School, where she taught for five years. She then taught 24 years at Olds and retired from Van Allen in 1969. After retiring from teaching, she baby-sat for many children throughout the years and volunteered at the hospital auxiliary gift shop and Old Threshers Reunion.

Ms. OLSON was a member of Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for a number of years.

Survivors include one sister-in-law, Nona OLSON of Mount Pleasant and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Weslie, Leonard and Paul; and two sisters, Esther ORRIS and Ruth OLSON.
