Mary Ruth Olson, 75, of Burlington, died at 10:55 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2006, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with the Revs. Roger Olson and Richard Shaw officiating. Following the funeral, the body will be cremated, and inurnment will be at a later date in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation began at noon today at the funeral home, where family will be present from 6:30-8 p.m.

A memorial has been established.

Mrs. Olson was born Aug. 16, 1930, in Fairfield, the daughter of Carl and Mona Mae Miles Carlson. She married Lyle E. Olson Feb. 11, 1949, in Fairfield. He died in July of 1977.

Mrs. Olson was a homemaker and retired factory worker.

Mrs. Olson was Protestant. She enjoyed bingo, cards, dice, watching Tiger Woods play golf and traveling to California.

Survivors include four daughters, Pamela J. Johnson of Fort Madison, Karen S. Weaver and husband Michael of Burlington, Patricia K. Pugh of Melbourne, Iowa, and Barbara L. Essary of Fairfield; two sons, Roger E. Olson and wife Stephanie of Decatur, Ill., and Douglas Olson and wife Kathy of Burlington; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lucy Davis of Burson, Calif., and Ida Mae Lee of Fairfield.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
