Douglas Dean MOOTHART, 45, 1890 140th St., died from a heart attack at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, July 9, 2006, at his home.

A service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Prairie View United Methodist Church near Ollie, with the Rev. Jane Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Packwood Cemetery in Packwood.

Family visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Prairie View United Methodist Church.

A memorial fund has been established for the education of his children.

Arrangements are in the care of Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Mr. MOOTHART was born Dec. 11, 1960, in Sigourney, the son of Gary Lee and Carol Ann Luers MOOTHART. He married Shelley DAVIS Jan. 5, 1990, in Ipava, Ill.

Mr. MOOTHART graduated from Pekin High School in 1979 and from Iowa State University in 1983. He was a farmer and cattleman. He raised and showed purebred cattle nationwide and also judged cattle. He showed the 1977 Iowa State Fair Grand champion beef.

Mr. MOOTHART was a member and former trustee of Prairie View United Methodist Church. He was a member of Iowa Shorthorn Association, where he had served on the board of directors.

Survivors include his wife; his mother of Fairfield; three children, Shelby MOOTHART, Lindsey MOOTHART and Tyler MOOTHART, all at home; and one sister, Jacque DWYER of Bettendorf.

He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents..
