Almeda Whitham

Almeda L. Whitham, 90, of 401 S. Van Buren St., Mount Pleasant, formerly of New London, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Park Place in Mount Pleasant.
Born Feb. 12, 1910, near Enid, Okla., she was the daughter of George G. and Lulu Mathews Miller. She married Theodore R. Whitham on Jan. 1, 1929, in Fairfield. He died May 14, 1999.
Mrs. Whitham was a graduate of Fairfield High School and attended Parsons College in Fairfield. She was a homemaker.
She was associated with the Independent Fundamental Churches of America. She worked in home missionary work in the Missouri Ozarks and the New York Adirondacks.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Willits of New London; two sons, David T. Whitham of Racine, Wis., and Paul R. Whitham of Rockford, Ill.; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson.
Visitation will begin at noon Saturday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Whitham will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Elliott Chapel. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery, New London.
Memorials have been established for Park Place Activity Fund and Child Evangelism Fellowship of Iowa.
